About the Position: The incumbent provides direct and indirect care services to patients in outpatient, partial or inpatient psychiatric or substance abuse settings and residential substance abuse wards, and co-occurring partial hospital program, at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing personal care to psychiatric patient; collecting and documenting patient information in an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, and reporting unusual or concerning patient behaviors to licensed providers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as behavioral, social science, psychology, or any course related to field of nursing. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Facilitate intake and triage, receiving phone calls, obtain demographic, historical, and clinical information of patients for the psychiatric unit.
Complete written documentation and data entry into the electronic medical record (EMR) to record patient behaviors, vital signs, and observations, in accordance with the hospital and program standards.
Report unusual patient behavior, physical symptoms, or other pertinent observations to registered nurse or licensed independent provider.
Process outpatient appointments or admission of patient for the hospital.
Provide addiction education to assist patients in gaining a better understanding and acceptance of the addictive disease process.
Escort patients to appointments, activities, meals, physical/occupational therapy, and entertainment activities.
