This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting fire protection and prevention inspections to ensure facilities are in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes; 2) Detecting, reducing or eliminating potential fire hazards for buildings and structures; 3) Developing, implementing or providing training in fire protection and prevention. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Additional Requirements: In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess Fire Inspector I, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, AND Hazmat Awareness certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06.
Detects fire hazards and implements fire prevention regulations of welding on ships; loading and unloading of ammunition; and fueling of harbor craft and marine vessels.
Furnishes technical advice on fire prevention problems to answer specific questions pertaining to national and local fire codes and directives.
Participates and coordinates with fire and safety personnel to study fire prevention problems and fire protection measures pertaining to new fire alarms, detection and suppression equipment.
Conducts plan reviews for new construction and renovations of existing structures.
Conducts a fire prevention information program and secures client involvement in fire prevention, detection, and suppression.
Conducts periodic and special inspections of buildings on post such as airfield facilities, shop facilities, schools, motor pools and warehouses to detect fire hazards and compliance with national fire codes
