To qualify for a Traffic Manager, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Utilizing a mastery of traffic management, logistic, and transportation operation policies, principles, and practices in the procurement of efficient and economical services for the movement of a wide variety of materials, by various modes of transportation. Interpreting transportation guidelines as a recognized authority governing substantive traffic management programs and organizations administering them. Providing comprehensive knowledge of federal transportation rules, policies, and procedures to incorporate into transportation requirements, management, and objectives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Serves as Traffic Manager in a 2nd-level or higher supervisory capacity, primarily involved in managing the transportation/traffic program at a Distribution Center within DLA Distribution.
Directs employees in accomplishing responsibilities related to freight consolidation, freight terminal operations, freight transportation, and material movement activities.
Serves as the Transportation Officer and technical authority on transportation operations and programs.
Maintains liaison and participates with other distribution centers, foreign government representatives, other Services, and agencies, as well as commercial freight forwarders to resolve problems related to the transportation of material.
Collaborate, contact, and work with high-ranking military or civilian managers, supervisors, and technical staff from DLA, other Services, Departments, Federal agencies, and private industries.
Develop, review, and implement regulations, policies, procedures, and other relevant references to ensure compliance, and application of best practices in traffic management processes.
Ensure economy and efficiency of operations consistent with operating requirements and capabilities of the shipping and receiving organizations.
