This PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST position, is located in the Public Affairs Function of a state Air National Guard Wing and is part of the CA 144 FW.
General Experience: Possess experience, education, or training in administrative, professional, investigative and/or technical work; Experience evaluating information and/or utilizing analytical skills to disseminate effective communication; Experience using computers and automation systems. PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST, GS-1035-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: knowledge of writing, communication principles, methods and techniques that relate to the public affairs of an agency; Experience in applying and adapting knowledge of strictly controlled situations of an agency; Experience writing articles on routine events of non-controversial subjects; Experience responding timely and appropriately to requests for information concerning agency programs and services; Experience participating in meetings with specialized groups to listen to and understand feedback on agency programs that are of particular interest to public. THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST, GS-1035-9, is to carry-out a wide range of public affairs assignments that include social media, media operations, community engagement, command information, communication planning, contingency/crisis response, environmental, security, policy review, and public affairs resource management in support of the mission and the commander's priorities. The position modifies standard methods, evaluates the effectiveness of information, and adapts approaches in developing new informational materials aimed at enhancing the understanding of recipients. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.
