You will serve as an ENGINEER in the SENSORS WEAPONS & LAUNCHERS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalent) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineer conducting root cause analysis and proposing solutions to resolve testing problems of computer or electronic systems and equipment for naval ship and weapons radar systems. You will function as a computer/electronic Engineer for the Surveillance Radar Division.
You will provide engineering expertise for radar systems focusing on the sustainment, modernization and operational availability of these complex combat systems.
You will be providing oversight for the life cycle, from investigating and resolving critical design and installation issues to performing hands-on shipboard and laboratory testing.
You will define, develop, and perform a wide range of engineering tasks, including data analysis applications to model performance and recommend system improvements.
