In order to be deemed as "BEST QUALIFIED" candidates must meet both the educational requirements and the specialized experience requirements outlined below. A. Education You must meet the minimum basic educational requirements: Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. AND B. Specialized Experience: In order to be deemed as qualified applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience includes the following: 1. Experience leading economic research projects by setting the scope, directing staff, and delivering recommendations to senior leadership; AND 2. Experience improving data-analysis processes by identifying gaps and implementing efficiency fixes; AND 3. Experience serving as advisor to leadership by providing data driven options and recommendations. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Directs efforts toward assuring broadest possible understanding and acceptance of Commission policies; and defends Commission actions. Serves as the technical authority for economic policy decisions on projects and reports. Evaluates projects for conformance with policy and planning requirements, existing laws, directives, and regulations. Monitors developments in economic policy affecting OEA and the Commission. Identifies and evaluates emerging economic issues requiring regulations or policy developments, evaluates alternatives, and recommends approaches to be taken. Assesses the current state of the Commission's economic regulatory programs, identifies areas of adverse economic impact on the public or the regulated industry. Oversees review conferences and conducts briefings and presents technical aspects of the reports, explains and substantiates review issues; and/or presents views on unresolved issues, responds to questions, identifies available options for decisions, and recommends courses of action.
