As a Current Product Development Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in advancing the performance, value, and manufacturability of our faucet product portfolio. You’ll blend engineering excellence with practical problem-solving as you uncover cost-reduction opportunities, drive efficiency across global plants, and help shape the next evolution of Kohler products. You will work with minimal guidance, demonstrating initiative and independent judgment as you proactively identify areas for improvement and execute engineering solutions that deliver measurable results.
What You’ll Do
Lead cost‑reduction engineering initiatives across existing product lines and components.Analyze current product platforms to identify and validate cost‑saving opportunities.Assess technical feasibility of product redesigns and manage the execution of cost‑reduction activities.Apply engineering analysis to design enhancements that improve production efficiency and cost effectiveness worldwide.Stay at the forefront of materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to influence future product direction.Develop and propose new ideas for product features, improvements, and innovations.Create and maintain detailed product specifications that reflect manufacturing requirements, regulatory standards, and marketing needs.Generate and evaluate multiple technical solutions using Design for Six Sigma, FEA, and other analytical methods—while recognizing when quick, practical solutions are the best path forward.Own all aspects of product design accuracy, including GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups, and form/fit/function evaluations.Ensure product compliance and functionality through testing and analysis.Preserve and elevate Kohler’s design and styling standards across components and assemblies.Prepare technical drawings and documentation that clearly define or update product requirements.Manage priorities, action plans, and timelines for multiple projects; influence cross‑functional partners even without direct authority.Support cost modeling efforts and track savings across projects.Exhibit, and encourage others to exhibit behaviors and actions that: Delight Customers, Inspire People, Boldly Innovate, Own It and Prioritize.
