Job Description:

As an NBE (Problem Bank Specialist), the incumbent supports both the Special Supervision and Community Bank divisions. Serves as a senior staff member within the Special Supervision Division and acts as an advisor to Community Bank Deputy Comptrollers and staff on matters pertaining to problem bank issues. This position is located in Washington, DC.
You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: Leading evaluations of problem banks/thrifts, OR Monitoring the condition of a portfolio of problem banks/thrifts, OR Identifying root causes and corrective actions to improve the condition of problem banks/thrifts. AND Selective factor: You must also possess a National Bank Examiner (NBE) commission reflecting that you are authorized to sign Reports of Examinations (ROEs) for national banks and federal savings associations. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. As a National Bank Examiner (Problem Bank Specialist), you will: Monitor the condition of problem bank and perform portfolio analysis to identify systemic trends and issues. Serves as a liaison with supervisory staff, Legal, SRC and other regulatory agencies. Provide quality control by ensuring the timely submission of required documents for SRC decisions and ensuring proper documentation of decisions and agreed upon follow-up activities. Conduct internal and external outreach activities on problem bank supervision. Monitor compliance with agency policies and procedures on problem bank supervision and administer the Management Information Systems (MIS) for problem banks and respond to special requests from Specialty Supervision and other headquarters divisions. Develop and present policy initiatives regarding the supervision of problem banks which could also impact agency wide initiatives, from a systemic perspective and participate substantively in confidential management deliberations.
