This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Assistant Director, Facilities Management Division. The Security Special Events Coordinator plans, coordinates, and executes special event support for security events across the Capitol Complex in support of requests from federal law enforcement and other security partners.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, an applicant's one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful job performance. To qualify at the GS-13 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-12 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: - Serving as a liaison among internal and external stakeholders to coordinate high-profile security activities; - Coordinating and executing security plans for high-visibility and high-risk environments involving senior officials and activities on a local, state or federal level; and - Assisting with the security preparations and emergency response integration to mitigate risk and ensure operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities Include: Event Planning Supports the Capitol Police Buildings & Grounds (CPBG) Facility Manager with the planning, coordination and execution of special events across the Capitol Complex as requested, to include the United States Supreme Court (USSC) and the United States Capitol Police (USCP). Leads all coordination of contractor activities for the deployment of security elements in support of special event requests. Determines government resource needs regarding staffing, vehicles, radios, safety gear etc. for special events. Client Coordination Works with security clients to assist with coordination of security plans; provides recommendations with alternative options to avoid or address issues, obstacles, and impacts to AOC operations. Contractor Oversight Serves as event liaison between AOC, clients and contractors. Responsible for management and coordination of contractor activities to ensure seamless execution of special event support services. Works with the Consilidated Facilities Management (CFM) contractor to solicit competitive pricing for special event services in accordance with the requirements of the CFM contract Performance Work Statement. ** Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.** This position is considered "essential" for purposes of reporting to work when events require a security perimeter to support Congressional activities. **
