About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Aquatics Center, Kirtland AFB, NM. This position will be filled as Flexible employment category; guarantees 00 hrs/week (may work up to 40 hrs/wk). This position is for a Summer Hire position NTE 120 Days after start date. Position requires current Lifeguard Certification (Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, and push/pull 100 pounds. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.
