About the Position: This position serves as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) assisting Project Engineers in execution various ammunition, munitions, or explosives manufacturing production, renovation, or demilitarization programs for the activity.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Identify and/or resolve technical problems in ammunition, munitions, or explosives manufacturing by applying established policies, procedures, and engineering methods. 2) Support production-line operations through troubleshooting, process monitoring, and equipment readiness to minimize line stoppages. 3) Make recommendations based on preliminary data interpretation and test results for technical reports or documents. 4) Select proper materials (metals, metal alloys, plastics, nylon, Teflon, etc.) for specific items, tools, tooling, jigs, or fixtures in a(n) ammunition, munitions, or explosives manufacturing environment, to be made, renovated, or broken down. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NJ-02). Direct production-line support, including problem-solving, designing line layouts, process monitoring, line-leveling, equipment readiness, and troubleshooting line stoppages.
Study, analysis, and consideration of several possible courses of action, techniques, general layouts, or designs and selection of the most appropriate materials for use in production.
Work with teams in a manufacturing environment on process-improvement events using various tools of continuous improvement, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and total productive maintenance.
Designs special tools, tooling, jigs, or fixtures used in a manufacturing environment.
