About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Defense Health Network East at Martin Army Community Hospital within the Department of Mental Health located at Fort Benning, Georgia. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychiatric evaluations on patients, providing individual or group counseling to patients, and developing treatment plans for patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Perform biopsychosocial evaluations using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling.
Conduct targeted assessments and evaluations to make diagnostic impressions and formulation.
Assess and provide crisis intervention for patients.
Make behavioral health diagnoses as appropriate in accordance with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association, 5th Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR) criteria or other more current accepted standards
Provide individual and group therapy using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy.
Develop individual treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis, identified problems, and treatment needs for each case.
Coordinate with patient's work environment, social service agencies, primary care, specialty clinics, and other organizations to promote seamless service and support to patients.
Work closely with multidisciplinary treatment staff to synchronize efforts across the continuum of care.
Document case work to comply with regulations, such as outcome/assessment results and high-risk clinical issues.
Evaluate treatment effectiveness and make adjustments to patient treatment plans as appropriate.
