This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic DIB & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned & operated manufacturing center located in New York.
Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Machinist Supervisor ~ without more than normal supervision which includes: (1) Supervising or leading artisans in a manufacturing/industrial environment; (2) Setting work schedules, establishing priorities, and reviewing employees work in progress or upon completion; (3) Planning work sequences to have work completed by established deadlines; and (4) Working knowledge of machining processes, equipment and tools to explain machining operation requirements, methods and procedures. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
Explain work requirements, methods and procedures; Instruct subordinates in new procedures.
Review work in progress or on completion.
Adjust plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible.
Develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and make formal and informal performance appraisals.
