This vacancy is for ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER position in the Chief Financial Officer located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER, 0341-14, FPL None, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Providing oversight, direction, and advice on administrative management matters, such as Human Resources, procurement, training, travel, and or property management; Reviewing and approving various requests from the Associate Directors' immediate staff, such as procurement, training, and travel request; Maintaining separate inventory system for non-accountable property and ensuring it is updated regularly; and Initiating personnel actions involved in the recruitment, selections, promotions, and transfers. Education: cannot be substituted at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
Provide administrative support in a wide variety of administrative activities.
Supervise the day-to-day activities of administrative personnel of various grades.
Serve as the Administrative Officer responsible for managing, planning, integrating, evaluating, and directing the work of personnel engaged in professional, technical, and administrative work, the majority of which are administrative disciplines.
Provide oversight, direction, and advice on administrative management matters (i.e., personnel, procurement, training, travel, property, etc.) associated with programs and operations in the Directorate and Divisions supported.
Develop, assign, evaluate, and revise short and long-range objectives and goals for the work directed.
