Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes filling and dispensing prescriptions, maintaining pharmaceutical inventory, and utilizing automated systems to manage data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Review prescriptions using knowledge of pharmaceuticals handled by the pharmacy.
Prepare bulk or quantity issuances of pharmaceuticals for clinics and wards.
Insure strict adherence to sterile procedures and correct operation and maintenance of equipment.
Maintain files for a variety of manual and automated records concerning pharmacy operations.
Assist in conducting medication storage area inspections.
