Job Description:

You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the Engineering and Advanced Materials Branch (GXNN), Fleet Sustainment and Advanced Manufacturing Division (GXN), Global Deterrence and Defense Department (GX) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. OR You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the Test and Evaluation Branch (GXNS), Fleet Sustainment and Advanced Manufacturing Division (GXN), Global Deterrence and Defense Department (GX) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist providing technical direction and rigor in the design, implementation, and test and evaluation of acoustic sensor systems for sustainment and readiness of warfare programs for an organization. You will be responsible for senior level engineering support of acoustic testing and evaluation for various Navy customer sets supported within the Fleet Sustainment and Advanced Manufacturing Division.
You will participate in technical exchanges, various program reviews, and other technical and programmatic meetings with Prime Contractors, program office leadership, and other government and industry organizations and customers.
You will serve as the Branch liaison and subject matter expert on the acoustic test and evaluation with program offices, partners, and academia, promoting the organization as a technical national leader in sonar sensors, test, and evaluation.
You will ensure technical rigor throughout the organization, including acoustic and hydrostatic pressure test, evaluation, quality assurance, and various shipboard projectors and hydrophones.
You will engage internally with members of the branch to ensure timely execution of projects, including typical failure mechanisms for all types of acoustic sensor devices, failure and material analysis tools and acoustic test and evaluation methods.
