***THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.*** This position is for a Supervisory Equipment Specialist, Position Description Number D1253000 located in the GA JFHQ in Marietta, Georgia. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Open only to current on-board members of the Georgia Army National Guard within G4.

Compatible Military Assignments: OBR: 88A, 90A, 91A, 92A WOBR: 91, 92, 94, 882A, 920A, 920B ECMF: 88, 91, 92, 94 General Experience: Candidate must possess experience, education, or training which has provided the knowledge of one or more classes of equipment (the experience must include knowledge of standard shop terminology); basic knowledge of mechanical principles relating to equipment (experience must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical publications); and knowledge gained from technical training, education, and experience in functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment; and experience using computer and automation systems. Specialized Experience: Candidate must possess at least 36 months experience, education or training overseeing and implementing a program involving the identification and resolution of difficult issues or problems in a maintenance function; experience preparing budgets based on plans for maintenance, repair work, new construction alteration projects, replacement of existing equipment, or increase in services and processes to ensure program effectiveness.
As a Supervisory Equipment Specialist, GS-1670-11, you will: Supervise, instruct, and train subordinates in the performance of work. Make assignments, check progress and adequacy of work, and determine need for changes in the office. Evaluate the analysis interpretations and conclusions developed by subordinates. Grant leave, hire new employees, and is responsible for the effective operation. Evaluate work performance of subordinates. Ensure equal opportunity for subordinates in the selection of participants for training, promotions, awards and recognition, and other career development opportunities. Direct, coordinate, and manage the material readiness program. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and management of the surface equipment materiel readiness program and training of maintenance personnel. Provide quality assurance measures for state materiel readiness programs. Review reports for status of readiness. Serve as the surface maintenance course manager. Determine career development needs and coordinate with the Surface Maintenance Manager and the Budget Advisory Committee to program funds for full time support and unit maintenance personnel training/schools. Plan, develop, and manage the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction (MAIT) program to provide necessary training and development of unit personnel. Responsible for the development and presentation of class materials. Review training reports, staff visit reports, and inspection reports to determine areas of weakness in support of units/ activities. Develop and direct implementation of mission support plans for new weapon systems or equipment entering the state's inventory for their impact on the surface maintenance community. Determine the impact on maintenance facilities, training, special purpose tools and test equipment, budget, etc. Determine requirements; coordinate and manage new equipment training, displaced equipment training; and funding and/or maintenance training requirements. Coordinate full time support personnel training with the Human Resources Office. Coordinate training requirements with other staff sections. May serve as a member of the State Readiness Committee and as Chief of the MAIT. Perform other duties as assigned.
