Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Serving as a firefighting crew member protecting life and property; 2) Providing on-scene patient care in response to emergency calls; 3) Conducting training in fire prevention or fire safety procedures; 4) Providing recommendations that effect firefighting operations, personnel, or resources; and 5) Employing proper procedures to extinguish fires within hazardous environments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-08). In addition to the specialized experience above, to be qualified for this position applications must possess the following certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) AND a state or National REMT license: Officer I Fire Instructor I Fire Inspector I Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations Level National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Proof of Age: As this is a primary firefighter position, your application package MUST include a government issued document indicating your date of birth. Employs proper procedures to extinguish fires within varying environments.
Performs initial assessment and life saving procedures at emergency sites.
Instructs crew members on fire protection, prevention, and suppression.
Applies proper techniques to contain hazardous materials.
