This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year-round including surfing, fishing, and hiking.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Powered Support Systems Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision; without more than normal supervision: perform pre-running inspections of component systems such as fuel lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and fuel injection; AND inspecting and maintaining electronics equipment associated with moderate and complex electrical systems.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments involve standing, climbing, bending, crouching, and occasionally working in cramped and awkward positions. Works at ground level and from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, manlifts, bucket trucks, and aerial lift trucks where parts of systems worked on are in hard to reach places. Frequently lifts and carry tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, employee lifts or moves with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee may work on different shift schedules. Work is performed both in and out of doors where there is regular exposure to dirt, dust, grease, noise, and bad weather. There is also exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, strains, electrical shock and burns, and is exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acids, fluids, and lubricants. Protective devices such as but not limited to ARC Flash PPE, earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, and safety shoes are required. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirts with sleeves are worn.
Operate electrical power source and distribution equipment.
Install, modify, inspect, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronics equipment associated with moderate and complex electrical systems
Install, modify, inspect, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair new and existing electrical lines, circuits, switch gears, systems, associated fixtures, controls, distribution panels, outlet boxes.
Install, modify, inspect, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair emergency generators airfield lighting system (0-2500 Volts), portable whacker lights, and electronic messenger safety boards.
