Serves as an Aviation Safety Analyst in the Flight Standards Service General Aviation and Commercial Division, Operations Branch, AFS-830.
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Experience includes advanced knowledge of safety promotion policies and expertise in aligning documents with strategic goals and assisting Subject Matter Experts in planning safety improvements across the NAS. Expert in collaborating with stakeholders to set safety priorities and using aviation safety data to develop metrics, while supporting policy expansion and modernization to enhance flexibility and engagement.
Assists in justifying and recommending new or amended Federal Aviation Regulations. Develops policies, standards, programs, and procedures for general aviation and commercial operations. This includes, but is not limited to, rule-making documents, guidance, advisory materials, technical evaluations, and safety promotion material. Assists in establishing collaborative relationships with external aviation organizations to address safety issues and seek innovative mitigation of such issues. Analyzes safety issues and seeks a wide range of regulatory and non-regulatory responses to ensure rapid adoption of remedies to general aviation safety concerns. Participates on industry and other external work groups and teams to address specific safety and other general aviation issues. Assists in developing guidelines, standards, and certification methods and associated written products to carry out policies for addressing safety and related general aviation requirements.
