Job Description:

This position is located at Departmental Offices,Management CFO - Treasury Operations. As a Special Events & Conference Coordinator, The position serves as a Special Events and Conference Coordinator in the Events and Culinary Branch within Support Services, Treasury Operations (TO), Departmental Offices (DO), United States Department of the Treasury.
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience for the GS-13 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is: - Performing as a planner and assisting with the execution of events and/or conferences for organizations (international, federal, state, local, private, association or equivalent-level); AND - Providing a strategic event plan outlining comprehensive event timeline including checklists, project milestones, and deliverables for entire life cycle of the event; AND - Identifying and securing appropriate internal and external venues for events and ensures appropriate logistical requirements are in place (e.g. audiovisual, catering, vendors); AND - Experience with event procurement and budgeting processes to proactively collaborate with appropriate business operations departments for tracking and reconciliation of expenses; AND - Experience working with and coordinating with executive level officials and their staff is required. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience for the GS-12 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is: - Performing as a planner and assisting with the execution of events and/or conferences for organizations (international, federal, state, local, private, association or equivalent-level); AND - Planning, coordinating and supporting the logistic management (operating principles and practices) of events, meetings, conferences and symposiums; AND - Providing procurement and budget support through tracking and reconciliation of expenses; AND - Experience working with and coordinating with executive level officials is required. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience for the GS-11 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-09 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is: -Performing as a planner and assisting with the execution of events and/or conferences for organizations (international, federal, state, local, private, association or equivalent-level) or military services; AND - Planning, coordinating and supporting the strategic and logistic management (operating principles and practices) of events, meetings, conferences and symposiums; AND - Regularly consults with clients to identify goals and objectives and assist in strategic planning including project milestones and deadlines, managing event sites and service providers; AND - Communicating verbally and in writing in a professional manner with a diverse group of stakeholders. OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR You may qualify based on the equivalent combination of education and experience. Only graduate education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (or 54 quarter hours) may be combined with experience to meet the requirement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience for the GS-09 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-07 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is: -Understanding concepts related to planning and executing special events, meetings, conferences and symposiums for high level organizations and/or international events and conferences AND -Experience planning, coordinating, supporting and implementing meetings, conferences and/or symposiums. AND -Regularly consults with clients to identify event goals and objectives, and assist in event planning processes, including developing project plans and meeting project deadlines. AND -Communicating verbally and in writing in a professional manner with a diverse group of stakeholders. OR a Masters or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR You may qualify based on the equivalent combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Serve as subject matter expert in the areas of Events, Protocol and Culinary Services, responsible for developing, implementing and administering standard policies and procedures, federal laws, and regulations related to Conference, Event and Meeting Services functions and operations. Serve as strategic partner and single point of contact to program offices in pursuit of their mission driven engagement objectives. Assist in the management and operations of the Senior Executive Dining Services, Treasury Dining Room (TDR) which provides stewardship to Secretarial meetings, catering to eligible official functions, and dining services to Senior Executives. Advise Treasury Staff on Protocol for International visits and trips and facilitating all requirements for trips such as luggage tags, gift, seat cards, etc. Management and administration of centralized room scheduling application and facilitation of shared event resources and services provided across the Treasury campus Logistics for all offsite events hosted locally, domestically or internationally with little to no oversight. Manage and reconcile government purchases using appropriated funds and/or private funds within procurement and purchase card guidelines for events and catering.
