To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level. Experience: You must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience in managing and overseeing the work of a team or individual employees, providing guidance, assigning tasks, and ensuring work is completed effectively. Experience as acting as a liaison between employees and upper management, to include planning work schedules, coordinating tasks, providing performance feedback, and reporting to upper management. Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks within organizations, ensuring reliable and secure communication between devices, to include configuring network hardware, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing agency information security measures on the network infrastructure. Experience in developing and implementing Information Technology policies that align with agency standards, ensuring network infrastructure security, and managing budgets. Experience in strategic planning, aligning technology with business goals, and overseeing Information Technology (IT) projects. AND Selective Factor: Applicants applying for this position, MUST also possess the following Selective Factor. In the event you do not possess the Selective Factor, you will be found ineligible for the position. Applicants must have the following: Two (2) years of experience working in a network environment comprised of a predominantly Cisco routing, switching, and firewall infrastructure. Experience includes demonstrating proficiency in the configuration and implementation of Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS), Cisco Nexus Software (X-OS), Identity Services Engine (ISE), and Firewall Security Appliances. NOTE: All applicants must demonstrate this experience within their resume. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. This position is the Chief, Network Communications Support Section of the National Network Communications Branch in the Information Technology & Data Division of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP). Provides Central Office and field network infrastructure and telecommunications service in support of voice, video and data communications. Responsible for the day-today management of the Bureau's wide-area network ("WAN") and local- area network (LAN). Serves as the Bureau's liaison with numerous outside entities, to include, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and all DOJ components, other government agencies and contract organizations.
