This vacancy is for a GS-0028-14, Environmental Protection Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, DIRECTOR OF ACQUISITION PROGRAM EXECUTIVE OFFICER -CG-93 in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia. This is a Term Appointment not to exceed 4 years.
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Specialized experience may include the following: Providing advanced concepts, principles and practices of environmental planning, program management and compliance requirement. Formulating and managing government program involving multifaceted operation and support programs and completing mission areas. Evaluating the impact of federal, state and local environmental planning laws and regulations. Evaluating/resolving complex problems or controversial issues in environmental planning compliance. NOTE: Education can not be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist and be responsible for the development, execution and oversight of the Coast Guard's Environmental Planning Program. You will lead a team with an interdisciplinary staff comprised of professional, civilian personnel from a variety of occupational teams including but not limited to environmental sciences and cultural and natural resource management.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Serves as a national environmental planning technical authority in consulting with and providing information to state, local, and/or tribal governments. Keeps abreast of new methods and development in natural and historic and cultural resource management and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as they affect program area. Serves as an authoritative expert in analyzing legislation and developing standards, regulations, or policies that affect agency-wide programs. Develops, recommends, or approves legislative proposals, regulations, or policy impacting broad programs.
